Mission:CCPA was formed in 1992 with the objective and purpose of promoting and maintaining high standards and ethics in the paralegal profession by providing a forum for the exchange of information about the profession, enhancing the role of paralegals in the legal community, and encouraging the continuing education of paralegals. The CCPA currently has over 85 members, hosts educational membership meetings, holds fundraisers to benefit local charities, and has the following active committees: continuing legal education, fund raising, job bank, membership, national/state affairs, newsletter, legal studies advisory, parliamentarian, pro bono, publicity, and website. What Is A Paralegal?The American Bar Association defines a paralegal as a person qualified by education, training or work experience who is employed or retained by a lawyer, law office, corporation, governmental agency or other entity and who performs specifically delegated substantive legal work for which a lawyer is responsible. Affiliations:The Chester County Paralegal Association is a member of the Keystone Alliance of Paralegal Associations. Keystone Alliance is a non-partisan, non-profit organization, formalized in 1996, from groundwork laid in the 1980's by paralegal associations in Pennsylvania. The Alliance provides a state-wide voice for paralegals/legal assistants in Pennsylvania, monitors development in the profession and promotes the profession in Pennsylvania. Member associations of the Keystone Alliance include: -Central Pennsylvania Paralegal Association -Keystone Legal Assistant Association -Lancaster Area Paralegal Association -Lycoming County Paralegal Association -Montgomery County Paralegal Association -Philadelphia Association of Paralegals -Pittsburgh Paralegal Association -York County Paralegal Association. |
