Continuing Legal EducationWendy Reczek, Chair 267-934-2610 This committee is primarily responsible for organizing the educational programs for our membership. The speakers come from a collaboration with other members. All members are encouraged to take advantage of the expertise and knowledge of our guest speakers. Meetings provide an excellent opportunity to network with other members, and gives everyone a chance to socialize. FundraisingTina Cortese, Chair 610-840-0240 In addition to raising donations to local charitable institutions, the CCPA raises funds to cover the cost of educational programs and seminars, and various member activities. In November 2008, the CCPA donated $9,000.00 of the proceeds from our fall fundraising event to Legal Aid of Southeastern Pennsylvania. In November 2009, the CCPA matched the previous year's donation of $9,000.00 with its annual "Taste of Chester County" Silent & Live Auction to benefit Legal Aid of Southern Chester County. Job BankBarbara Butler, Chair 610-436-0100The Job Bank committee provides employment postings for area law firms and corporations. MembershipKathy Cindric, Chair ccpa.membership@gmail.comMembership maintains a current directory for all members and oversees new applications and yearly member renewals. Keystone Alliance of Paralegal AssociationsWendy Reczek, Primary Representative 267-934-2610The CCPA is a member of Keystone Alliance of Paralegal Associations. Representatives of member associations meet throughout the year to exchange information, discuss issues affecting the paralegal profession and to work on projects. NewsletterSuzie Marker, Chair 610-783-8850Newsletter committee edits and publishes The Paralegal Pipeline quarterly. All members and guest columnists are encouraged to contribute articles and items of interest. Pro BonoTina Cortese, Chair 610-840-0240Pro Bono committee offers a wide range of opportunities, including working with Legal Aid of Chester County to provide a variety of legal services to individuals who cannot otherwise afford a lawyer. These services include, but are not limited to: family law, estates and wills (including Living Wills and Durable Power of Attorneys), bankruptcy, and landlord/tenant. The paralegal may determine how much of his or her time is volunteered. Members of our Pro Bono Committee are exposed to many different areas of law while helping those less fortunate, and at the same time gaining a rewarding experience. PublicityDonald P. Bristol, Chair 610-840-0231 Publicity Committee promotes our Association by advertising the regularly scheduled membership meetings and educational programs in local publications and website. ScholarshipMaureen O'Hara, Chair 484-354-4160 The CCPA awarded its first Paralegal Scholarship to a paralegal studies student in 2009. The CCPA sponsors two $500 scholarships each year to two deserving individuals pursuing a degree or certificate in Paralegal Studies. One must be a high school graduate and can be enrolled in either a full-time, a part-time or an accelerated program to be eligible. Applications are available by contacting the CCPA or the Scholarship Chair at the number above. Submission deadline is June 1. Applications for the Academic Year 2011-2012 will be available November 2010 with the submission deadline of June 1, 2011. Scholarships are awarded by June 30 of each year.
